The Learning Library That Finally Made Me Finish What I Started

April 26, 2026 6 min read ✍️ Abhishek

I have started the same SQL course four times. Different platforms, different instructors, same result: I get through the first three modules, get pulled away by something urgent, and when I come back two weeks later I restart from the beginning because I have forgotten where I was and what I knew.

I was not failing to learn SQL because I lacked motivation or time. I was failing because I had no system. No organised place where my learning lived, no visibility into what I had actually completed, no way to pick up exactly where I left off without re-doing what I already knew.

Gaply's Learning Library fixed this entirely.

One Place for Everything You Are Learning

The library lets you create topics — custom categories that match your actual learning goals. My current topics are: System Design, React / TypeScript, Behavioral Interview Prep, AWS Fundamentals, and Leadership Skills.

Under each topic, I add learning items. These can be anything: a URL to an article, a YouTube video, a course on Udemy, a book, an AI conversation I want to revisit, a personal note, or a file I have uploaded. Every item in my learning world lives in one place, categorised by what I am trying to learn.

Each item has a status: Not Started, In Progress, or Completed. I tag items with a difficulty level — Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced — and I can star anything I want to come back to quickly.

The Progress Tracking That Changed Everything

The feature that made the real difference was the status system. Previously, "in progress" lived entirely in my head — a vague awareness that I had started something somewhere. Now, every item I open gets marked In Progress. When I finish it, I mark it Completed.

At a glance, I can see that I have 12 completed items in my System Design topic and 3 still in progress. I can filter by "in progress" and immediately see the four things I am currently working on without hunting through 20 browser tabs.

The library also shows starred items separately, so anything I have flagged for quick reference — a particularly useful article, a set of notes from a mentor session — is one click away instead of buried in history.

Roadmap Integration: Learning With Purpose

The most powerful feature is how the library connects to the AI roadmap. When I click "Track learning for this phase" on any roadmap phase, it opens the library pre-filtered to that phase. Any items I add in that context are automatically linked back to the roadmap phase.

This means my learning has a destination. I am not just collecting articles — I am completing Phase 2 of my System Design roadmap. Every completed item moves the progress needle on a goal I actually care about. That connection between daily study and visible career progress is what finally made me consistent.

The Community Library Integration

The Gaply community has a resource-sharing feature where members post the best articles, courses, and tools they have found. When I find something useful there, I can add it to my personal library with one click — already categorised, already formatted, ready to track.

This has replaced my habit of saving links to a notes app I never open. Resources go into the library, get tagged, and stay visible until I have actually completed them. No more lost links. No more "I bookmarked something great about this topic last month — where did it go?"

What Consistent Learning Actually Produces

After three months of using the library consistently — completing items rather than just collecting them — I had genuinely closed two skill gaps from my resume analysis. Docker and GraphQL went from "things I vaguely understand" to "things I have built real projects with." Both are now on my resume with concrete examples behind them.

That is the outcome. Not a cleaner bookmark folder — actual skills, built consistently because a system made the progress visible and the next step always clear.
